Easy Ways to Eat Fruits & Vegetables

posted on 27 Apr, 2018

A balanced diet is the recipe for a balanced mind. While a carb-driven modern diet is convenient, the long-term effects of such diet aren’t good. Including an optimal amount of fruits and vegetables in your daily diet will provide your body with essential minerals and vitamins, while ensuring your overall well-being.

So, how can you add fruits and vegetables to your diet?

A great way to add fruits and vegetables to your diet is by increasing their content in the most important meal of the day—breakfast! There’re a number of choices available. So, let’s look at a list of fruits and veggies that can become an important component of the breakfast.

  • Bananas, raisins, dates, lemon, grapefruit are the top choices.
  • Drinking a small glass of freshly pressed juice with your breakfast, is an equally effective choice!
  • Raw veggies can be added to mashed potatoes or boiled eggs to create a deliciously healthy fix.

The American Heart Association recommends around 4 cups of fruits and 5 cups of veggies in your diet per day. This means you’ll have to take a serving at least twice a day.

Lunch is another important meal of the day. A hearty vegetable salad is how you can fulfil the 5 cup requirement on your list. A bowl of soup takes time to cook but is considered highly nutritious and appetizing, and definitely worth it. If you’re someone who prefers light food at the lunch time, perhaps a cold veg sandwich (with cucumbers, lettuce, tomatoes and avocado) is good to go.

For dinner, a light side salad is the best choice to boost your veggie-fruits quotient. Chop-up vegetables like onions, carrots, and beans, and add them in as you cook steamed rice or you could make a soup. It’s best to consume these deliciously fulfilling meals as soon as they are cooked.

A holistic approach toward health is in vogue today. And a holistic diet is the first step toward the same. A good portion of fresh vegetables and fruits supplies the body with much necessary dietary fibres, antioxidants, anti-inflammatory agents, and a lot more. Low in fat and calories, vegetables and fruits are known to reduce cholesterol levels in blood thereby reducing the risk of cardiovascular diseases. A diet rich in fibre also reduces the risk of heart diseases, obesity, and digestive problems.

If you’re someone who’s not fond of including raw fruits in your diet, or simply don’t have the time, intake of cold pressed juices is a wonderful alternative. Juice is a detoxifying agent, which clears your body’s toxins, and helps promote the overall well-being. A great alternative to fitness junkies, vegans, or carnivores, cold pressed juices can be complemented with fruits and veggies, or even replace the veggie-fruit combo altogether.

Cold pressed juices preserve the nutrient quality of fruits and vegetables, are free from any additives while being less cumbersome to consume and store. Since they bring to you almost all of the natural goodness, cold pressed juices are highly recommended.
